01Who we are
Solute is a London-based digital engineering studio. We scope, architect, build, and ship software for our clients.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
Data controller: Solute
Address: 120 Curtain Road, London, United Kingdom
Email: hello@solute.uk
02What we collect
When you contact us. Your name, email address, company, and anything you choose to tell us about your project. We collect this when you use the contact form, email us, or speak with us about a potential engagement.
When you become a client. Business contact details for the people we work with, billing information, and the project material you share with us during delivery.
When you visit this site. Standard technical data — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and referring source. We use this to understand how the site performs, not to identify you personally.
When you subscribe to updates. Your email address, and your consent to receive them.
We do not collect special category data, and our services are directed at businesses rather than consumers.
03Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a proposal or estimate.
- To deliver, support, and maintain the work we are engaged to do.
- To manage contracts, invoicing, and our own accounting obligations.
- To send occasional updates about our work, where you have asked to receive them.
- To keep our systems and our clients' systems secure.
- To meet legal and regulatory obligations.
Our lawful bases are: performance of a contract, our legitimate interest in running and marketing a professional services business, your consent where we rely on it, and legal obligation for records we are required to keep.
04Client project data
Where we build or maintain systems for a client, we may process personal data held within those systems on the client's instructions. In that situation the client is the data controller and Solute acts as a processor. Our responsibilities are set out in the data processing terms of the relevant engagement, and we do not use client project data for any purpose of our own.
05Who we share it with
We share information only where it is necessary to operate:
- Service providers who host our infrastructure, deliver our email, process payments, and provide analytics — each acting on our instructions under contract.
- Professional advisers such as our accountants and lawyers, where relevant.
- Authorities, where we are required to disclose by law.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for third-party marketing.
06SMS messaging program
Solute operates an SMS messaging program for the business events we promote. If you provide your mobile number and tick the SMS consent box on our online lead or registration form, you consent to receive text messages from Solute. We collect your mobile number, name, company, and the product categories your business sources, and we use this information solely to send you messages about the event you registered interest in and to arrange your meetings. The following terms apply:
- You opt in by entering your mobile number and ticking the consent box on the relevant form. The box is unticked by default and is never a condition of registering, purchasing, or attending.
- Message frequency: up to 4 messages per programme or event.
- Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier's standard charges apply.
- To opt out: reply STOP to any message. You will receive one confirmation and nothing further.
- For help: reply HELP, or email hello@solute.uk.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories of data sharing described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
07International transfers
Some of our service providers operate outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred abroad, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or on standard contractual clauses together with any additional safeguards required.
08How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become projects are kept for up to two years. Client records and project material are kept for the duration of the engagement and for six years afterwards, in line with UK contract and tax record requirements. Subscription and opt-out records are kept until you unsubscribe, and opt-out records indefinitely so that we can honour your preference. Analytics data is retained in aggregated form.
09Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it.
To exercise any of these, email hello@solute.uk. We respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
10Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access control on a least-privilege basis, and regular review of the systems we operate. No transmission over the internet is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11Cookies
This site uses cookies that are strictly necessary for it to function, and may use analytics cookies to measure performance. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may affect how the site works.
12Changes
We may update this policy. The current version always appears on this page, with the date of the last update shown at the top.
